1930

Humble Beginning

The Micallef family have a long tradition in providing local produced delicacies to the local market. It all started in the late 1930 when Kalcidon Micallef started to sell from his cart and horse a selection of preserved salted food items available in those times  mainly in the village of origin Zebbug, Malta.

1950

Start of a Business

The business was taken up 1950 , when his son Emanuel joined his father and commenced manufacturing Helwa tat-Tork, based on an old recipe passed from generation to generation in the Micallef’s family. Il-Helwa tat-Tork which starting carrying the Camel logo become the leading brand and a household name in the islands of Malta. Emanuel,in later years ,was joined by members of the family, expanding further the range of products including a  variety of mediterrenean cuisine products ranging from locally produced Bigilla, a variety of flavoured dips and a range of cheeses. The firm also embarked on the importation of a number of quality products to compliment their range of local produced portfolio.

1995

Camel Brand Marketing Co. Ltd

In 1995, the company moved to larger premises Zebbug to accommodate further the production and storage of an increased volume due to high demand of their products in the local market.

A new company Camel Brand Marketing Co. Ltd was created to handle the selling, marketing and promotion of the now ever expanding range of locally produced and imported products in the dry and chilled range.

2007

Legacy Meets Innovation

In 2007, a new generation joined the family business, carrying forward a legacy built over decades with passion and dedication. Their fresh perspective supported continued growth while preserving the traditions and quality standards at the heart of Camel Brand. This transition laid the foundation for the expansion and innovation that would shape the years to come.

2019

Expansion

The rapid expansion, as the leading manufacturer of Mediterranean delicacies, necessitated in 2019 ,that the company moves to bigger premises in Handaq. The spacious three level premises with a total floor space of over 7500 square metres enabled the company to build a state of the art facility incorporating the latest technological advanced production machinery plant.  The warehousing of dry and chilled products  and their  logistics ranks as one of the centre of excellence in the local food processing industry in Malta.
